Andhra locals oppose cement plant

Hundreds of people including villagers, environmentalists and politicians of several opposition parties are opposing the proposed production unit of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) of Kerneos India Aluminate Technologies Private Limited in Pudi village of Rambilli coastal village. Kerneos, with an investment of around Rs 90 crore, has reportedly received an industrial licence from the Secretariat of Industrial Assistance from the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, for setting up the project in the coastal village to produce nearly 30,000 tonne of cement per annum. The AP Pollution Control Board conducted the public hearing on the proposed plant under the aegis of the joint collector, Girija Shankar.
