A ?200,000 fine has been given to cement firm Cemex following the death of a worker at a factory in Rugby, Warwickshire, (UK) three years ago. Peter Reynolds, 28, from Brownsover, Rugby, was clearing a machine blockage when it exploded on 15 January 2008. Leamington Magistrates’ Court was told the blast blew him through the building wall and he died from head injuries. In August, Cemex pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act. The company, which makes cement and building products for the construction industry, was also ordered to pay ?172,000 in costs at the hearing last month.
