Raysut Cement, has added a second wholly owned ship ‘Raysut 2’ to its fleet, a move that promises to significantly augment the company’s ability to serve its growing export market. ‘Raysut 2’, described as a specialised pneumatic self-discharging cement carrier, is owned by Raybulk Navigation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raysut Cement. Raybulk, which was incorporated in the Marshall Islands is due to commence commercial operations before the end of this year. The 16,000-tonne capacity carrier is larger than the company’s maiden acquisition, Raysut 1, which belongs to Raysea Navigation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raysut Cement which launched commercial operations earlier this year. Both wholly owned vessels, together with two other leased cement carriers, will help support Raysut Cement in the achievement of its ambitions to emerge as the pre-eminent cement supplier in the wider region. The company’s burgeoning shipping fleet – owned and leased – will strengthen Raysut Cement’s ability to reach potential export markets as far afield as East Africa and the Indian sub-continent. Cement exports account for a significant chunk of Raysut Cement’s total sales.
