Ceratech, has announced the availability of Kemrok, an eco-friendly cement produced utilising a proprietary technology. Kemrok is developed by utilising recycled materials and is nearly carbon neutral. The eco-friendly cement scores over the normal Portland cement, which is manufactured with 100 per cent virgin material and releases nearly one tonne of carbon dioxide for every tonne of cement produced. The recycled substances in Kemrok cement comes handy in construction projects that aims to achieve LEED certification and the level of recycled content in the product enables them to achieve two points in the process. Kemrok cement is produced utilising 5 per cent renewable materials and 95 per cent cast-off ash, which otherwise would have been dumped in landfills. Dissimilar to the manufacture of Portland cement, which requires decomposing of limestone and the burning of fossil fuel to deliver the required high heat, which results in carbon dioxide discharges, the manufacture of Kemrok does not require extensive processing in the manufacture. According to Mark Wasilko, executive vice president of Ceratech, a number of petroleum chemical companies have switched over to the use of Kemrok cement in their production facilities to meet the regulatory requirements in the use of a green product and to benefit from the corrosion resistance and robustness features of Kemrok. The product is offered in the form of packaged concrete mix as well as bulk cement.
