Continuous building boom in Saudi Arabia has given a boost to cement manufacturers. Arabian Cement Company is currently undertaking a feasibility study for a new production line at its plant in Rabigh with a capacity of 7,000 tonnes per day. The company has asked Saudi Aramco and Saudi Electricity Company for addition power requirements for expansion. Arabian Cement expects the new production facility would to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2014. Arabian Cement has also signed an agreement with Huta Marine Works for supply of limestone. Huta Marine Works covers dredging, coastal works, harbour construction and industrial installations, and is Saudi Arabia’s largest fleet operator. The expansion will help the company to increase profits as the demand for cement and other raw building materials has increased manifold over the last year in Saudi Arabia, as the country embarks on a multi-billion riyal scheme of investment to improve its infrastructure nationwide, build new universities and hospitals, expand its utilities systems and build around 5,00,000 affordable houses.
