Dangote Group has continued to garner global laurels as it won the ‘African Business of the Year Award’ in London last week. The President-cum-Chief Executive Officer of the Group, Aliko Dangote also clinched the African Business Leader of the Year award. The award, organised by the London-based African Business magazine, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and BusinesssinAfrica Events, brought together prominent business leaders, entrepreneurs, heads of state and other high-ranking government officials from across the world to celebrate the achievements and successes of those who have played a pivotal role in driving Africa’s economic development. President of the Group was awarded the African Business Leader of the Year in recognition of his efforts as a driver of change with the courage and imagination to make difficult decisions with long-term value and sustainability in mind which can ultimately transform corporations. Dangote led a revolution in the cement industry by consolidating the Group’s cement concerns across Africa into Dangote Cement Plc, in line with his vision of creating a pan-African conglomerate. Receiving the awards, Dangote commended the organisers for presenting the new face of African champions to the world.
