Dalmia cement to set-up cement units in Meghalaya and Karnataka

Dalmia Cement plans to set up two new cement units, with a capacity of 2.5 million tonne (mt) each, in Meghalaya and Karnataka. It is expected to go on stream within two-and-a-half years.The company will invest Rs 2,500 crore, of which Rs 600 crore will be through internal accrual. With this the company plans to be a key player in the east and south, The two projects would be financed at a debt-equity ratio of 70:30. and the company has tied-up with financial institutions to finance the debt part. In a recent agreement, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) a private equity firm, has invested Rs 750 crore in Dalmia Cement for enhancing the cement manufacturing capacity. With commissioning of these new units, the group’s total cement capacity will reach 19.3 mt from the existing 14.3 mt.
