MCC Group Central Research Institute of Building & Construction (CRIBC) has independently completed the R&D work of the overall emulation of thermal stress and control technology for Mass Concrete Construction of the CPR1000 Nuclear Power Plant. During the mass concrete construction, the generated used to cause a lot of trouble on the implementation quality and progress. With an international leading professional level, new technology will make smooth settlement on the aforesaid difficult technical problems, filling the gap of nuclear power engineering between China and foreign countries. The newly invented technology mainly focuses on how to enhance the construction quality and control for mass concrete construction of CPR1000 Nuclear Power Plant. Taking the theory of high-precision finite element simulation analysis for overall concreting process as the calculation basis, the developer made re-optimisation on the concreting process, created a dynamic design and curing method for concrete control on site, and eventually developed a set of systematic scientific approach consisting of both theoretical core and practice for engineering application. As a result, the technical breakthrough has been achieved for control for raft foundation of reactor workshop of the nuclear power plant.Up to now the calculation theoretical results and systematic application achievements have been put into utilisation in nine projects of the nuclear power plant, no has appeared in the concrete constructed under this method. It is estimated that about two months will be shortened in terms of critical path of the construction schedule for each project, which can be translated into direct economic benefit of over RMB 100 million yuan for each plant. Such a scientific achievement will not only resolve the long-standing puzzled concrete problem, but also cut down the construction cost of nuclear power plants. In view of its technical advantage, outstanding economic and social benefits, as well as the promising application prospect, it was awarded the number one position for the Science and Technology Award by MCC Group in December 2010.
