The Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL) is planning to set-up a cement manufacturing facility. The facility is schedule to be built during the current fiscal. TNPL is engaged in manufacturing eco-friendly papers. During the current fiscal, TNPL plans to convert some of the waste materials – lime sludge and fly ash – generated in the process of the manufacture of paper into high grade cement, TNPL is setting up a 600 tonne per day cement plant at a capital outlay Rs 69 crore. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2011. In India, TNPL will be one of the first mills from paper industry to produce high grade cement from the lime sludge and fly ash, the waste materials in paper manufacturing.
