JK Lakshmi Q3 net dips by 90% to Rs 4.6cr

JK Lakshmi Cement reported an over 90 per cent dip in its net profit at Rs 4.6 crore in the third quarter of the current fiscal on increased outgo on higher fuel and input costs. The Rajasthan-based firm has reported Rs 46.36 crore net profit in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. JK Lakshmi, in a company statement, attributed the fall in the profitability to sharp fall in prices as compared to the same quarter of the last fiscal and an unprecedented rise in the cost of fuel. Expenditure on power and fuel of the company during the quarter stood at Rs 104.89 crore vis-a-vis Rs 77.33 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal. In addition to that the demand for cement in the North, where JK Lakshmi predominantly markets its products, was 3 per cent compared to 8 per cent in the same quarter last fiscal. The net sales of the company during the quarter declined by around Rs 47 crore to Rs 316.33 crore from Rs 363.24 crore a year ago.
